David Donohoe has always worked in a variety of music and sound disciplines. Playing piano, keyboards, guitar and drums he has grown through diverse approaches and formal considerations. A self-taught producer and dabbler in electronics, it was this interest that led him to his first techno releases, on Donnacha Costello's minimise label in 2000.

The Try To Make You Love Me/Just EP quickly became a classic 12" and led to David's signing to Dublin's D1 Recordings. His debut album on D1, First Course In Hygiene was released to critical and public acclaim in November 2001, being heralded by The Sunday Times as 'the development the Irish music scene has been waiting for'. His next release was a collaboration with Donnacha Costello for the Clicks n’ Cuts 3 compilation. Following this, David released the Is This The End? 12” on Force-Inc in 2003. New mixes of two tracks from that EP appear on his second album, Statuesque on D1.

Other recent releases include his tech-house monster remix of his own Care of the Teeth on the Versions#1 EP on D1, the much acclaimed Hail Holy Light and Nature Morte! on minimise, and Rí/Banríon on D1aspora. He also featured under his MicroNost alias on Clicks n’ Cuts 4 on Mille Plateaux Media.

He is a member of serverproject. a live laptop improvisation group performing site specific networked sound installations with Donnacha Costello, Dennis McNulty and Peter Maybury.

David has worked on a number of acclaimed remixes and collaborations over the past couple of years, notably with Rough Trade’s Daniel Figgis and Cara Dillon, Nina Hynes and Donnacha Costello. He played with the much-praised and sadly short lived Uptown Raquet Club.

David is a regular live solo performer and has performed in Ireland and Europe at Gallery and Club events alongside such varied artists as Thomas Brinkmann, Carsten Nicolai, Kim Cascone, Frank Bretschneider, Dave Angel, Decal, Ambulance, Peter Maybury, Mark Clarke and Donnacha Costello.

He is currently writing and preparing material for his third album, which he is in no hurry to finish!
